Nothing. They work, or they don’t. That’s how it goes. Sometimes they work for a while and then they don’t work. Sometimes they work for a very long time, and then they don’t. If you love someone, they will always be worth fighting for, but a relationship that just doesn’t work out doesn’t for a reason. Usually that reason is: you’re just not right for each other. Expecting someone to stay with you forever won’t make them do it, and being constantly worried that someone will leave you tomorrow will do you much more harm than good.

Just let it happen. If it’s beautiful now, be grateful. If she loves you and she smiles at you and she has that spark in her eye when she looks at you, never take a second with her for granted. Don’t worry about tomorrow. No matter how many people you ask, no one can tell you beyond all doubt what will happen tomorrow.

In the same vein, it won’t do you any good to stay hung up on someone that it didn’t work out with. If you tried and you worked really hard and you gave of yourself and it didn’t work out, you’re supposed to be learning from this - not using it to define you.

Things are always changing, but what is supposed to happen always does.
